Wheel Decide 3

Hello There!

After some experimentation with this online tool, another idea for a speaking activity came up.
This time, the wheel is going to be used to choose a topic for conversation.
Access the wheel here: Talk about...

Instructions:

The teacher spins the wheel and the students talk about the topic in pairs or small groups. After some time, say 1 or 2 minutes, they share with the whole class and the students are free to make comments, ask questions and agree or disagree, if that's the case.  If the students are shy, the teacher can help by asking other students: Do you agree? Why? What do you think? etc

That's it for now!
Happy teaching! :)

Wheel Decide 2

Wheel Decide and Comparison.

After last week's speaking activity: Have You Ever, another idea came up!
This time in the form of a game competition focused on writing Comparative and Superlative sentences, in which the wheel has been changed to show options with adjectives + comparative or superlative forms.

Example:
Beautiful - comparative
Good - superlative
Crazy - comparative, etc.

Instructions:

Divide the class into teams which will compete against each other.
The teacher spins the wheel (access the wheel here: Comparative/Superlative) and all the teams write a sentence using what the wheel asks.

In the example, the wheel stopped  at " beautiful - superlative'. All groups write down sentences and
the teacher awards 10 points for a correct one. If two or more teams have the same sentence, they'll receive only 5 points. The team with most points in the end wins!

Duration: 20 minutes or till all the options in the wheel were used.

That's it for now!
Happy teaching! :)

Wheel Decide

What's Wheeldecide.com?

Wheel Decide is a free online spinner tool that allows you to create your own digital wheels for decision-making.
I created a simple EFL/ESL speaking activity in which students answer questions with the Present Perfect Tense + before/ever/already and yet. You can access the wheel here: Have You Ever

Instructions:

A student comes to the board, and the teacher asks a question and with the help of a magic pen or the mouse, the student spins the wheel. (in our school we use a white board with a projector connected to a computer and with internet access). The options in this spinning wheel are just YES or NO

The wheel then will stop, and the student has to answer the question and the follow-up questions about it accordingly (if the student has never done that, he's supposed to lie convincingly. after answering the questions the students then decide if the student was lying or not!).

The teacher has a list of questions and follow-up questions like this:

Example: Have you been to NY before?
(if yes) When did you go there? How long did you stay? What did you do there?

(if no) Would you like to go there? Why?

This is just a simple example speaking activity that can be used in EFL/ESL classes.
I expect to have some more inspiration in the future and post others!

That's it for now! :)
